Welcome to the Van Shoes page. On this page I’ll be giving you some updated information about Van Shoes as well as a good link to my older Van Shoes blog that has a good collection of information concerning many aspects of Van Shoes from their humble beginnings to the latest ranges.
Here is the Vans Shoes history lesson:
The Vans Shoes company was originally founded in the 1960s by Paul Van Doren. He had the very simple idea of making shoes and then selling them direct to the public, thereby cutting out the middle man. The idea gave birth to the Vans Shoes business, which was officially launched on 15th March 1966. The business started with the first Vans Shoes store, which was opened in Anaheim, California by Paul Van Doren and his three partners: Jim Van Doren, Gordy Lee and Serge D’Elia.
Although it was the official launch of the Van Shoes business and they offered the public three styles of vans shoes on that first day, they had only actually made display versions of the van shoes. To make the shop look like it was ready for business, they stacked the shoe racks on the walls with empty boxes. This made it look like a working van shoe store!
Needless to say, those shelves became filled with the real thing and business got better over time…
